About

Hello there! My name is Samantha Clark and I am an ASEA Certified Equine Appraiser and the owner of SS Equestrian Services.  I made the transition to appraising full-time after six years of owning and managing a very busy boarding, lesson and training barn in Windham, NY. By spending many years in the hands-on sector of the equine industry, I have both the practical and theoretical knowledge necessary to accurately and professionally value horses. I am a graduate of Cazenovia College (’16) and hold a BPS in Business Management with a concentration in equine business management as well as an Equine Business Management Certificate from UMass Amherst (’12). More recently I have completed the ASEA home study course (’22) to become a certified equine appraiser.

As an appraiser my specialty is in valuations of stock horse breeds and Thoroughbreds, although I do have experience with several warmblood, draft, pony, and light horse (i.e. Morgans and gaited breeds) breeds as well. I am incredibly thorough in all aspects of my work but am particularly adamant about providing the most accurate and thorough appraisals that comply with all USPAP and IRS standards.

In my spare time I enjoy quality time with my husband and kids, our 4 dogs, and our 4 horses and minis. The gelding pictured above has been my “right-hand man” since I was 14 years old— we’ve spent endless hours together in and out of the saddle, he’s won me many a ribbon, and now he carts my daughter around. I hope that in 2023 we can find some time to get back in the show pen, but this time as lead-line exhibitors.
