Appraisal Services

SS Equestrian Services offers professional and certified horse appraisals that comply with the current Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations. All appraisal reports are created to be accurate and impartial with a reasonable inspection and report time. Samantha Clark is certified by the American Society of Equine Appraisers, and has been required to complete relevant examinations, and appraisal proficiencies that adhere to a strict code of professional appraisers ethics. 

Potential Needs for an Appraisal

  • Donations or IRS purposes
  • Divorce or bankruptcy dispositions
  • Insurance needs
  • Estate or forced liquidations

The IRS requires an appraisal for donated horses whose value exceeds $5,000. Our appraisals comply with all IRS regulations.

Rates

Restricted Use Appraisal $300

A report that can be used to determine value of a horse for an owner or breeder that is interested in liquidating or selling privately. This document is not permitted to be used in court or for IRS purposes.

Summary Appraisal $550

The most common type of appraisal that is commonly used for insurance and donation purposes and can be used for IRS purposes. A summary report is more detailed than a Restricted Use appraisal but is not intended for a case or situation that is likely to end up in court or litigation. 

Self- Contained Appraisal $750

The “self-contained appraisal” report is the most highly developed report and is typically the best choice for an appraisal used for a case that may go to court. Generally these reports are used for divorce cases, injury claims, veterinarian malpractice suits, or other injury claims. **If appraiser is required to appear in court as an expert witness, or attend meetings as litigation assistance additional fees will apply.**

*The above prices are for documents that represent one horse. For reports including several horses, an additional $300 will be charged per horse. 

*The above prices do not reflect the cost of an on-site evaluation. Should the appraiser travel for an in person, on-site evaluation, client will incur additional travel expense.
